Pinging from your Axis video unit
2016-08-25Last updated
To troubleshoot various connection faults related to your video units, you can ping the Axis dispatch servers from your Axis video unit to ensure proper connectivity between the two.
Before you begin
Procedure
-
Open your web browser and enter the following web address to ping the Axis
dispatch servers using the host name:
https://<video unit_IP>/axis-cgi/pingtest.cgi?ip=dispatchse1-st.axis.com
.If your video unit’s IP address is 10.160.46.16, enter:https://10.160.46.161/axis-cgi/pingtest.cgi?ip=dispatchse1-st.axis.com
. -
Log on using your username and password.
Important: For the duration that your video unit is enrolled in Stratocast™, use your video unit's owner authentication key (OAK) as the password to log on to your video unit's Axis web page. If your OAK contains hyphens, omit them when entering your password.
- If got response appears, pinging the Axis dispatch server’s host name works. Try adding your Axis video unit again. If you still cannot add your Axis video unit, restore the server settings of your Axis video unit.
- If no response appears, go to the next step.
-
Enter the following URL to ping the Axis dispatch servers using the IP address:
https://<video unit_IP>/axis-cgi/pingtest.cgi?ip=195.60.68.120
.If your video unit’s IP address is 10.160.46.16, enter:https://10.160.46.161/axis-cgi/pingtest.cgi?ip=195.60.68.120
.- If got response appears, pinging
the Axis dispatch server’s IP address works, but your video unit’s DNS
(Domain Name System) servers might not be configured. As a result, do
the following:
- Make sure that the video unit has access to the Internet and that the proper DNS servers are configured for the video unit.
- Try adding your Axis video unit again. If you still cannot add your Axis video unit, restore the server settings of your Axis video unit.
- If no response appears, check the default gateway of your Axis video unit.
